Pieter Pauwels of Ghent University and Stefan Boeykens from KULeuven organize an open symposium that maps out the limitations and possibilities of BIM.
Now that the uptake of BIM tools and methods in the architectural design and construction industry is starting to increase, it is time to look beyond the horizon of BIM and see how building information modelled in BIM environments can be combined with information coming from other domains.
Beyond BIM aims to launch a forum for BIM researchers in Belgium. The initiators engaged Bureau Bouwtechniek and Ghent University as supporting partners. The intention is to invite different speakers to show their work or research field, how they use BIM today and hope to use it in the future.

Beyond BIM 2015
In this symposium, we will look into the combination of BIM with simulation, sensor, GIS, heritage, product and FM data.
Beyond BIM 2015 welcomes
- contributions that start outside BIM (simulation, sensor, GIS, heritage, product and FM data) and aim at bringing their data to the architectural designer and construction expert;
- contributions that look into the technical aspects of combining BIM information with other information;
- position statements regarding future applications and research directions.
Deadline Friday October 30, 2015. Information about subjects and submission can be found here.
Léon van Berlo of the Dutch Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) gives a presentation about the BIM Server and the different projects it is being used for.
