School campus VTI Bruges

Together with Van Den Berg Architects, we are building a new campus in Bruges.
  • Architect: Van Den Berg Architecten i.c.w. Bureau Bouwtechniek

  • Client: AG Realestate / NV DBFM Scholen van Morgen

  • Surface: 17.500 m²

  • Budget: € 24.200.000

  • Timing: 2020 - 2021

  • Status: Executed

  • Photographer: Sarah Blee

  • Advisors: SB Heedfeld (techniques), Ney (stability), Studiebureau Jonckheere (surroundings), Eveka (safety coordination), Macobo-Stabo (EPB), De Fonseca (acoustics)

The school building has four floors and contains studios, classrooms, a refectory, sports hall and boarding house.

Adaptive building

From uncertainties about possible future growth and changes in the programme, the campus was conceived as an adaptive building, a building that can adapt according to demand and need.

Challenges

  • The VTI is the third largest school building in Flanders.
  • The technical school is furnished with fully equipped workshops for the technical departments of car mechanics, stage technology, electricity, mechanics, electromechanics and industrial sciences.

Bureau Bouwtechniek

BB was responsible for drawing up the specifications and monitoring the site.
