Alexander became an ir. arch. at KU Leuven in 2021, option Bouwtechnisch Ontwerp. In 2024, he graduated from the postgraduate degree Fire & Safety engineering at UGent. Since 2021, he has been part of Team Renovation, Restoration & Maintenance.

Renovation projects can be challenging for Alexander. He is also the right person to come to with an above-average issue. By working in a sector that evolves quickly and innovatively, he keeps his finger on the pulse and is challenged to keep his knowledge up to date. He also likes a nicely finished project. He gets really good humour when he has got someone out of construction problems. But nothing gives him more job satisfaction than being surrounded by a close-knit team.

Arno became an ir. arch. at Ghent University in 2009. For three years he was there as scientific collaborator for the TETRA project Building with glass and adhesives. Since 2014, Arno has been a BB'er and is part of Team Renovation, Restoration & Maintenance.

For Arno, the meaning in his job is in what he calls detective work: (under)investigating the cause of defects in a building, discovering what makes a building special and finding a possible improvement to it, energetically or technically. Once the investigation is over, he makes it a point of honor to subtly but firmly convince the client to implement the technical solution we came up with. How he does that is our best kept secret.

Bert werd architect aan de KU Leuven – Sint-Lucas Brussel in 2004 en deed er aansluitend nog de master Landschaps- en Monumentenzorg bij. Hij werkte 10 jaar als restauratiearchitect voor architectenkantoor BOA/ ARTER. Bert werd BB'er in 2012 en maakt deel uit van Team Renovatie, Restauratie & Onderhoud.

Projecten met erfgoedwaarde en betekenisvolle, trefzekere architectuur naast de kracht van samenwerking vormen de kern van zijn dagelijkse drive naar meer.

Katalin became an architect at the Technical University in Budapest in 2002. Since 2006, she has been working in Brussels for iD Studio Architects where her focus was on renovation (energetic and otherwise) - and conversion projects. In 2021, Katalin became a BB'er and is part of Team Renovation, Restoration & Maintenance.

Katalin likes to get to the heart of the matter. Especially if this means she has to dig a while before she reaches it. She sees problems as challenges that she wants to get to the bottom of. Preferably in the company of like-minded enthusiasts. Shared passion contributes greatly to her job satisfaction.

Emma became a civil engineer-architect at UGent in 2021. That same year, she became a BB member of Team Sustainability, Energy & Comfort.

Emma rolled straight into BB from school. Bitten by the sustainability and circular building microbe, she immediately connected with our energy experts. They in turn didn't waste any time, immersing Emma in the wonderful world of GRO sustainability meter, EPB calculations and daylight and summer comfort studies. Brainstorming with her teammates on how to prevent discomfort in buildings through passive, low-tech solutions is "a day well spent" for her.

Robbe became a civil engineer-architect at UGent as well as a BB'er in 2014. He is a certified EPB advisor in Brussels. Robbe is part of Team Sustainability, Energy and Comfort.

Robbe likes to champion conservation. Of buildings, that is. In all other areas, he is particularly progressive and up-to-date. He loves advising design teams on the development of a sustainable, high-quality indoor climate. If he succeeds without too many technical installations, he is a satisfied man. Robbe likes to help think about tailor-made building physics solutions and rarely sends a colleague back from a wasted journey.

Raf became an architect at Sint-Lucas in 1995. In 2012, Raf became a BB'er. During his tenure as BB'er, he emerged as façade consultant and building detail expert and, together with some colleagues, founded Team Knowledge Innovation & Technology, the technical conscience of BB. Raf is also practice assistant Architectural Design and Building Detail at UGent and sits on several committees of Buildwise.

Raf thrives best when he can work with enthusiastic and sympathetic professionals, both inside and outside Bureau Bouwtechniek. His heart beats faster with technical challenges that contribute to a more sustainable future, more robust constructions and a better quality of life. He believes in reassessing existing structures and always looks for the best solutions for the most relevant criteria. He goes completely loco when his advice has given a colleague or client an aha moment.

Katie became an interior designer at HAIR in Antwerp in 1996. She became a BB'er in 1997 where she is part of the Computer Aided Design & BIM team.

Is the 1970s building, originally intended as office space, suitable for conversion to collective and quality housing?

Our feasibility study not only examines the structural engineering aspects, but also focuses on the possible types of flats that are spatially feasible.

It takes into account the need for affordable housing in Brussels and the opportunities offered by the available space. In addition, the study also looks at the parking possibilities in function of the new residential use.
