Research & development I Circular construction
Bureau Bouwtechniek and the Institut de Conseil et d'Etudes en Développement Durable (ICEDD) are helping the three regions communicate about and support the use of the sustainability tool GRO.
GRO sustainability tool
Many aspects around sustainable construction are qualitatively important but difficult to measure. Sustainability GRO tries to make these qualitative aspects measurable and can be used for all types of buildings.
GRO was developed by the Facilitair Bedrijf of the Flemish government to implement a uniform and holistic ambition level in building projects in terms of sustainable and circular building. Via an integrated design process, GRO helps to make buildings future-proof and comfortable. The People, Planet, Profit principle provides the framework for this.
GRO translates the ambition of the client and/or the design team into a manageable and process-oriented instrument to increase sustainability at building level. At the same time, it is a manual for designing a more sustainable building.
Besides determining the level of ambition, GRO is also an evaluation and control tool to ensure that the predefined level is also achieved. The assessment is done using defined performance levels. The criteria are divided into three performance levels: excellent, better and good.
