Architectural implementation of SILT is right up Bureau Bouwtechniek's alley due to complexity and many challenges.

"SILT in Middelkerke was a special project to realise on several fronts. The geometry of the hotel tower posed a major challenge, as straight elements hardly ever feature in the design. Moreover, the unique location between dike and dune required a thoughtful interpretation of the existing normative framework to achieve a feasible and sustainable result.

As executive architect, Bureau Bouwtechniek supported the Dutch designing architect ZJA with all technical and financial issues, allowing them to focus entirely on the design. Bureau Bouwtechniek also monitored the implementation and ensured that the objectives and plan were clear to all partners at all times."

Teamwork

Engineer-architect Elien Coppitters was project manager of SILT. She took on an important coordinating role in every phase. She could count on the support of her colleagues Klaas Calle, Tatjana Bogaert and Jan Moens.

BIM architect Alexander Vandenberghe was deployed to model SILT's complex geometries within tight deadlines. He was flanked by Laura Rombaut.

Our energy consultants Jona Van Steenkiste, Katrien Van Lierop and Emma Van De Steene were in charge of sustainability studies and EPB reporting.

Finally, Ken Coolsaet took care of safety coordination.
