The circular economy, in which materials retain their value for as long as possible and are put to maximum use, is gaining more and more importance from an ecological and economic point of view. Changes are also needed in the construction sector to further enable the transition to a circular economic model.

By developing a Circular Building label, the Flemish Construction Confederation, VLISOG vzw and Buildwise want to introduce the construction sector to the challenges and opportunities presented by the transition to a circular economy.

Purpose

inspire others to similar initiatives
develop a clear frame of reference on circular construction to help developers, architects, contractors make good choices
raise widespread awareness of circular thinking in the building sector

We support this process by presenting the developed reasoning and tools to building professionals, both the client, architect, contractor and material producer. This cross-checking with building practice makes a significant contribution to the implementation of this assignment.

From 2020, VCB and Buildwise will continue to work together on the further implementation of this project under the Interreg 2Seas CBCI project, with support from Bureau Bouwtechniek and other partners in the chain.
