Julie became an ir. arch. at Ghent University in 2011. Since 2018, she may also add the Practical Introduction to Fire Safety Engineering course, both the basic course and the specialisation modules, from ie-net and CE-marking of fire-resistant interior joinery from Buildwise to her CV. Julie has been a BB'er since 2011 and is part of Team Architecture (French-speaking) and Team Fire.
Julie gets joy from constructive cooperation between all participants in the building process. Having an impact on that, she considers part of her mission. Just like cracking a technical problem. Julie goes home satisfied when, to the best of her knowledge and ability, she has put her customer on the road, (fire)safe and equipped with sufficient technical baggage. When she and the entire team have delivered a good result and can still get through the same door with all parties, she sleeps like a log.
Project
The building explores the duality of the programme between the busy workplace of the news editors and the media's desire to be transparent to their audience.
It consists of a 200 m² TV studio, a 70 m² visual studio for radio and television recordings and a duplex space housing the newsrooms of the two editorial teams and the offices of Télésambre.
The building fits into an open space in the recently renovated Place de la Digue. A passageway runs through it, allowing staff to reach the RTBF headquarters and Place Saint Fiac
