The existing houses on the Graanmarkt will be converted and integrated into a building complex with exhibition spaces, studios for artists, a cafeteria, classrooms, and a building for the administration of the MAD, located on the Papenvest. The ground floor connects the Graanmarkt with the Papenvest and will have a public function.

Building

Reallocation and reuse of existing indoor building structures in the 18th-century city centre. The volumes and structures of the older buildings dating from different building phases were largely preserved.

The existing open facade on Nieuwe Graanmarkt dating from the 1960s with monumental columns in washed concrete and metal joinery was retained. Concrete restoration was applied to existing facades with architectural concrete and existing load-bearing concrete structures.
