The Winepress is a robust and compact building.
Sports hall, playground and the stretch of classrooms are combined in a thoughtful way.
The sequence of 22 classrooms with a view of the rooftops of Leuven produces a range in which larger classrooms, time-out rooms and activity rooms sometimes have combined views of the playground and sports hall.
The building consists of a linear block of five floors with classrooms and facilities, with the horizontal volume of the sports hall attached to it.
The roof of the sports hall forms the playground, which is also the entrance to the school building. The volume of the school makes a distinct angle with the street and adjacent buildings. This creates a set of secondary spaces that organise bicycle storage and an access ramp to the main building.
