The impact of the circular shift on facades

19.11.2024
Circular building envelopes are the future. But what does this change mean concretely for the construction of our facades? And what impact does it have on the role of the architect?
Bouwschil

The transition to a circular construction economy is changing the way we design building envelopes. This change in mindset means that the old disposable architecture is giving way to more sustainable and circular solutions.

There, our colleague Ruben Van Vooren shares the challenges we face today in reusing, refurbishing, remanufacturing and repurposing façade materials.

Using recent practical examples, he shows that these challenges can be overcome and that it is possible to take away valuable lessons and insights. Insights that can make a difference for architects, contractors, clients and manufacturers.
