The training course Ecological consultant fauna-inclusive (re)building is part of the interregional project Natuurinbouw, a cooperation between Flanders and the Netherlands, financed by the European Union.
Jente is a bioengineer and takes her commitment to more sustainability in the construction sector particularly seriously. She also managed to convince the selection committee of this, once to participate and a second time when presenting her internship project.
Together with Jente, our ambition is to have an impact on a resilient living environment by cleverly integrating buildings into local ecological networks.
During her studies, Jente immersed herself in legislation, species knowledge, policy frameworks and fauna provisions. As a study case, she worked out an ecological advice for the Antwerp Collection Centre, the future city archive in Pomppark Zuid. This project was approached as an ecological link within De Grote Verbinding, the green-blue network around the city.
Both the client AG Vespa and the design teams Office Winhov and HUB actively participated in the discussions and responded positively to the advice.
With the certificate in our pocket, it is once again our ambition to integrate nature-inclusive building into our projects. Not as an afterthought, but as an integral part of good design and sustainable building. We will further deploy and share the knowledge from the training within our team and with our partners.
