Building with respect for the environment. Materials that are not depleted, but circulate in a natural balance. A building as a temporary composition of elements that later get a new life elsewhere. Bio-circular building is not a utopia, but a necessary change of course. With the charter Bio-circular Building by Embuild Flanders and Buildwise, we are taking a step in the right direction.
By 2035, Flanders will need 239,000 new homes. At the same time, outdated buildings require renovation. The construction sector is at a crossroads: do we continue to use materials with a high environmental impact, or do we resolutely opt for renewable, circular raw materials? Wood, straw, hemp, loam: natural materials that store CO₂ and create a healthy indoor climate
The charter is an appeal to clients, building owners, contractors, architects, engineering firms, researchers and farmers to help shape the transition. By sharing knowledge, setting up experimental projects and opening up the market together. Bio-circular construction should become a matter of course, not an exception.
We are proud to lend our cooperation to this charter. It fits perfectly with our vision and expertise: with our own working group on bio-based building and as pioneers in circular building, we are committed to sustainable innovation on a daily basis.
Within the sounding board group of Embuild Flanders and Buildwise, we helped refine the content of the charter. We are happy that by sharing our research and experience we are together creating a broader support base for a circular future in the construction sector.
Then sign the charter with your company or organisation as we did.
