Construction of a new fire tower in the Kalmthoutse heath. The basis of the design is a steel truss construction, built up from multiple triangles and divided into segments of 6 meters high each. The steel will be given a green-gray coating with a natural look so that it can blend in with the environment in which the tower will be erected. The comfortable stairs and the various platforms are constructed in wood.
At 12 and 24 meters, spacious viewing platforms of 6.4 x 6.4 meters are designed. For both the stairs and the viewing platforms, high, safe parapets are provided with vertical wooden slats.
At 30 meters, a comfortable unit for the fire watch will be installed. With a surface area of 15m², a pleasant workplace is created with 360-degree views of the nature reserve. On top of the unit there is room for a technical room and the communication mast of Astrid. The mast reaches to the desired height of 42 meters and also provides space for connecting equipment by telecom companies.
BB is executive architect and leads the monitoring of the execution.
