Project Support I Collaboration
Nominated for the EUmiesAward 2024.
The complete study and design assignment for the construction of a fire brigade outpost, multipurpose rooms and residential units. Three new programmes will be installed on the site of the former town hall: the fire brigade outpost, a multipurpose hall and town houses.
The fire station is connected to a forecourt that serves as a training square for the firemen. The square is multifunctional and covers the entire width of the public plot. The houses are arranged around a collective courtyard that is an extension of the existing gardens.
Sustainable structure
The barracks are built in a double concrete structure. A first structure is provided in the form of a concrete table on the underground parking lot. Thanks to this structure, the large span of the garage of the fire station is maintained without extra columns.
Challenges
- the integration of stability and techniques in a project where a lot of the shell remains visible
- the detailing of precast concrete elements
- the integration in the masonry walls
- the shell of the building is treated as the finishing touches
BIM
Bureau Bouwtechniek modelled the BIM model in collaboration with the stability bureau Bollinger + Grohmann. Bollinger + Grohmann modelled the stability aspect model, BB took care of the architectural aspect model and was responsible for the coordination and integration between the different models.
Bureau Bouwtechniek is responsible for the structural engineering support of the architects from the competition phase onwards:
- the technical assistance during the design process,
- the preparation of the architectural specifications and the estimate,
- control of the execution.
