Thomas became an ir. arch. at KU Leuven in 2010, added 2 more years of Architecture, option Building Technology and worked at ARAT architects for 7 years. Since 2019, he has been a BB'er and is part of Team Architecture (private sector East and West Flanders).

Thomas gets energy from punishing teamwork. It is thanks to smooth cooperation and a good rapport between colleagues that we are able to bring projects of considerable scale to a successful conclusion. He is also not averse to technically complex issues. Whether it's implementing regulations or dissecting performance requirements and then bringing them together in a construction detail, he gets happy either way.

Jasper became a civil engineer architect at UGent in 2020. In 2021, he became a BB'er as a member of Team Architecture (private sector East and West Flanders).

Elien became an ir. arch. at Ghent University in 2012, majoring in Urban Design and Architecture. Since 2015, she has been a BB'er and is part of Team Architecture (private sector East and West Flanders)

Every project is a unique collaboration between many different parties. Getting and keeping all those noses in the same direction without losing her focus and calling attention to the technical and architectural interests is the challenge that comes with the job. Elien does not mince her words. Coming up with a good compromise at the right time gives her confidence in an outcome that benefits the project. Focus, in other words. What also appeals to Elien is being able to provide answers to all parties around the table, both at the very first question of a client with a dream and at the final delivery point of a realised project.

Thijs became a civil engineer-architect, at UGent in 2006. Between 2006 and 2009, he worked for ssa/xx. Thijs became a BB in 2009 and is part of Team Architecture (Lakeside, pop up).

Thijs stands as a convinced project architect in BB life. He enjoys supervising and advising on projects from A to Z. He always does so with the intention of helping to realise the best possible building. According to Thijs, this only succeeds when people work well together, with the right balance between professional seriousness and having fun. If he manages to facilitate a context in which that is possible, he knows why he enjoys his own work.

Freya became an industrial structural engineer at IHAM Antwerp in 1994, safety coordinator Level 1 in 1995. Since 1996, Freya has been a BB'er and is part of Team Renovation, Restoration & Maintenance.

Freya is an annual guest lecturer at various universities and teaches several Safety courses at Cresept. She also regularly gives lectures on request by NAV, Centrum Duurzaam Bouwen and BEVAD, among others. Freya is regularly called in as a practical expert by Buildwise.

Don't tell Freya: "You'll never get a flat roof watertight." Such challenges she gladly takes to heart. After 26 years, a flat roof can still surprise her. Never a dull moment there on the roof. Freya keeps her fingers on the pulse of new techniques, new detailing and thus new challenges. If she can choose, she prefers not to be alone on the roof. Only together with an equally passionate team does she know she can make any roof watertight.

Arno became an ir. arch. at Ghent University in 2009. For three years he was there as scientific collaborator for the TETRA project Building with glass and adhesives. Since 2014, Arno has been a BB'er and is part of Team Renovation, Restoration & Maintenance.

For Arno, the meaning in his job is in what he calls detective work: (under)investigating the cause of defects in a building, discovering what makes a building special and finding a possible improvement to it, energetically or technically. Once the investigation is over, he makes it a point of honor to subtly but firmly convince the client to implement the technical solution we came up with. How he does that is our best kept secret.

Stephanie became an ir. arch. at Ghent University in 2014, majoring in architectural design and structural engineering. For one year, she worked as a scientific assistant. Still at UGent, she finished the course Damage Diagnosis and Repair of Concrete in 2018. Since 2015, Stephanie has been a BB'er and is part of Team Renovation, Restoration & Maintenance.

Being able to put people out of their misery at short notice with bite-sized advice is the challenge Stephanie faces with herself every day. Communicating correctly and pleasantly, making clear agreements and keeping the client clearly on board step by step makes good friends. Not the kind she wants to go out to the pub with, but completing a job on good terms is a job well done. Every exterior shell that passes through her renovation hands is ready for the future. Being able to say that and keep good friends from it too, il faut le faire.

Paulus became an ir. arch. at Ghent University in 2008, option Architectural Design and Construction Engineering. Since 2016 he has been part of Buildwise's BIM&ICT Technical Committee and since the end of 2019 he has been a professor at UGent in the field of BIM and digital design techniques. In 2008 he became a BB'er, until 2023 he was one of the inspirational forces behind Team Computer Aided Design & BIM. At the end of 2023, he made the switch to Team Knowledge, Innovation & Technology.

Paul loves solutions. And even more of looking for them. Like looking for new ways to optimise and streamline projects and processes. He is happy when he can make a colleague see the wood for the trees again. Reducing chaos in any area and getting things clear and sharp gives him satisfaction.

Bart became an architect at HAIR in Antwerp in 1987. Since 1997, Bart has been a BB'er and part of Team Computer Aided Design & BIM.

Bart is the founder of our CAD team in 1997. Every day, he solves complex puzzles involving measurement, design, stability and all kinds of technical and legal requirements. If the puzzling produces a BIM model that is as close as possible to the built result, he has spent his day well. Supporting his colleagues so they can grow . The freedom and warm trust make BB 'The place to be and never leave'."

Katie became an interior designer at HAIR in Antwerp in 1996. She became a BB'er in 1997 where she is part of the Computer Aided Design & BIM team.

Tiny became an architect at Sint-Lucas Ghent in 2013. In 2016, she obtained a postgraduate degree in Bio-Ecological Building and Living at KU Leuven. Immediately after graduating, she joined Abscis Architects in Ghent. Tiny has been part of Team Computer Aided Design & BIM since 2018.

Tiny does everything she can to ensure that her work and that of her colleagues is more pleasant and smooth so that we can ultimately offer a well-informed and well-kept file to our partners. She loves learning new things from others and gets intense work happiness from seeing others grow in their work.

Jan is a philosopher by training. He trained as a digital architectural draftsman. He has been a BB'er since 2003. He is a member of Team Computer Aided Design & BIM.

Raf became an architect at Sint-Lucas in 1995. In 2012, Raf became a BB'er. During his tenure as BB'er, he emerged as façade consultant and building detail expert and, together with some colleagues, founded Team Knowledge Innovation & Technology, the technical conscience of BB. Raf is also practice assistant Architectural Design and Building Detail at UGent and sits on several committees of Buildwise.

Raf thrives best when he can work with enthusiastic and sympathetic professionals, both inside and outside Bureau Bouwtechniek. His heart beats faster with technical challenges that contribute to a more sustainable future, more robust constructions and a better quality of life. He believes in reassessing existing structures and always looks for the best solutions for the most relevant criteria. He goes completely loco when his advice has given a colleague or client an aha moment.

Marleen became a civil engineer-architect at UGent in 1995. Before becoming a BB'er in 2007, she worked as a project architect at awg architecten, among other things. Since 2014, Marleen has been the driving force behind Team Knowledge, Innovation & Technology.

For Marleen, a building project is either sustainable or it is not. She uses all her knowledge and passion to shift as many stones as possible in this area. Totally loco she goes when she gets to philosophise about the longevity of the 'intelligent ruin'. Nor does she shy away from a vigorous debate on more recent challenges such as bio-based and carbon-neutral building. Closer to home, Marleen is still loyal to her first love: guiding her colleagues through the forest of building standards or pointing them in the right direction when faced with a complex construction-technical issue. Lucky to have her.
