Project Support I Collaboration
Compact, passive school expansion for the GTI in Londerzeel (Municipal Technical Institute). The starting point for this design is the central meeting space which houses the dining room, circulation space and the open learning centre. The existing classroom wing, the new classrooms and the workshop classes expand out from the meeting space. The compact space has striking form with large, deep windows and no subdivisions.
Passive (K 14
/ E 55)
The new building for GTI is based on the passive house concept. The walls and roofs have 30 cm of high-quality insulation. Thermal bridges are avoided and very efficient joinery has been put in place. Much attention has been paid to the air-tightness and a (performant) D ventilation system with heat exchangers was installed. Solar and internal heat gains are optimally used on cold days. In the summer, overheating is avoided by electronically controlled blinds and the use of night cooling. A monitoring system registers the different energy consumptions. When the system detects irregularities, immediate interventions are taken.
Bureau Bouwtechniek is responsible for the complete construction-technical support of architect firm Teema from the tendering phase. BB is responsible for technical assistance during the design process, the layout of the implementation plans, the development of technical details, the blueprint of constructional specifications and estimates. BB leads the monitoring of the implementation.
