Project Support I Collaboration

Construction of a centre for 'Mode en Design' (MAD) (Fashion and Design), and rebuilding houses in the heart of Brussels. The existing houses will be rebuilt on the Graanmarkt and integrated into a building complex with exhibition spaces, studios for artists, a cafeteria, classrooms, and a building for the MAD administration, located at the Papenvest. The ground floor links the Graanmarkt with the Papenvest and gets a public function.

Challenges

  • the complexity of this build is its mix of programmes, each with different energy demands
  • handling all these demands in a fairly complex renovation
  • the combination of a large diversity of finishing materials

Bureau Bouwtechniek is responsible for the complete construction-technical support of V+ architects from the tendering phase. BB is responsible for technical assistance during the design process, the layout of the implementation plans, the blueprint of constructional specifications and estimates. BB leads the monitoring of the implementation.
